{Current Obsessions: White Lace Dresses}

You know the one thing I LOVE about blogs is that their about and by real people...not supermodels, actors, or billionaires, their everyday people. So I know you can all relate when I say, life can get chaotic! Which is the exact word that can explain the past month or two in the world of Betty! After escaping from the real world to a dream vacation in Israel, it eventually comes back and nips you in the rear...well, lesson learned! I really want to be dedicated to this blog (which I know I've said in almost every single post so far) but between the time I stepped back on American soil and today its a tie between my conundrum of a schedule to just being a lazy teenager that have led to my delay of posts. :) But enough about the past, I just had to get that out of the way. But I promised you a plethora of pictures...remember? Well, guess what?! My laptop broke! yay. So those pictures will arrive in maybe another week or so! yay x2. (I hope your sensing my sarcasm) So until then, I've been trying to come up with different features that will be the theme of all of my blog posts. (ex. current trends, what to wear?) So today's feature is Current Obsessions, I previously posted a current obsessions which featured my spring must-haves. So basically, current obsessions post will be all about the current things I'm dying over. Don't even try and say you've never felt emotionally attached to, for instance, a pair of suede platforms that are in the just perfect shade of blue and would go perfectly with that chiffon tunic you just bought! So as of late, I've had that insane feeling over white lace dresses! When I saw Kate Hudson on the cover of this month's InStyle, my heart stopped for a good 60 seconds. That dress, out of the only 1/12th I saw of it was jaw-droppingly amazing. With those beyond perfect just-enough-skin, dreamily-chic, cut-outs, it was a dress only meant for frolicking in a field full of delicate flowers. It was like the love child of minimalism, summer, and Sarah Burton! I just fell madly in love with these etheral fantasies that are the perfect epitome of summer effortlessness. So I began a frantic pursuit to find an equivalent to Miss Hudson's fabulous frock that would satisfy my craving, and these are a few that are just my cup of tea. Of course, my go-to store for any of my obsessions is ModCloth which proved itself amazing once again with a bountiful supply of lacey dresses that were just what I was looking for. So all of the following options were gloriously found on the one and only ModCloth.com! :)
Current Obsessions: White Lace Dresses
1.  Cupcakes of Cashmere is another one of my FAVORITE blogs that I follow religiously, along with Atlantic-Pacific. Emily has such effortlessly chic style it kills me, she is the perfect example of a cool Cali girl. The second I saw this Whitney Eve stunner my jaw was on the floor, it was everything you could ever imagine in a dress. It was modest but sexy, feminine but edgy, dressy enough for a date but casual enough for lunch with the girls. It was like heaven that you could wear! I definently think Whitney Port is one to watch, and I am momentarily despising MTV for canceling The City! But lets not go there...I could go on for days about that issue. Anyhoo, love this x1000! *You must check out her blog @ cupcakesofcashmere.com...it's a must-have link on your blogroll!*

2.  This lacy number is EXACTLY what I was going for in a WLD! (white lace dress...yeah, I went there, haha) Its effortless, feminine and chic all wrapped up in one amazing dress.I love the ruffle detail on the straps, its exactly what it needs to set it apart from a basic white lace dress. Its also incredibly versatile, I could wear this to school by adding gold layered bracelets and printed flats or I could also sport it out for dinner with wedges and a skinny belt.

3. I l-o-v-e pockets!! As much as I adore the feeling of carrying a fab bag, I also love the feeling of free hands! For me, (and I know I've said this a gazillion times, but whatever) white lace dresses are meant to be effortless and chic and pockets are the perfect detail to exemplify that. I'm also a huge fan of hidden pockets, I recently purchased a few dresses with hidden pockets and I love it when I casually slip my hands in my pockets and someone's like WHOA! It has pockets, that so cool! :)

4. My closet is dictated by anything and everything that screams feminine" Which translates to a variety of ruffles, sequins, neutrals, pinks, dresses, skirts, rompers, deep v-necks, chiffons, sheer, polka-dots, yada yada yada. I just love looking pretty and this dress is the epitome of pretty, with the sheer polka-dotted overlay and the ruffled neckline, its practically singing to me. This is a pure example of why I love clothes, its fun, flirty, and fabulous! What more could you ask for in a dress?

5.  I have always loved floor-grazing hemlines. Being a mere 5 foot and 4 inches (but growing), I've come to learn how to play with the eyes. Floor length skirts do the trick for me every time, so to have my obsession of the moment in a maxi option is splendid! I love this dress in particular for its slight sweetheart neckline which gives off a hint of decolletage and it also works for any occasion. Throw a white blazer over it for night, a simple bolero for day and you're ready to go.

{forgiveness?}

I think my reasoning for my recent no posts deserves redemption. I'M GOING TO ISRAEL!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHH!!!!! And for your sympathizing-pleasure, I'm leaving in about 7 hours! It's been bothering the heck out of me about not posting, but the past few days have been absolute whiplash. Anyhoo, my excitement is just about to pop the cap if we don't leave soon. My uncle is getting married, so we're going for the wedding as well as lots of touring! I promise a plethora of pictures after I recover from my inevitable jet-lag. :) Speaking of pictures, I recently got an iPod touch (which I am now addicted too and possibly seeking medical help, hahaha) So after downloading the entire App store, I have some fabulous apps that range from useless to addicting that I must recommend to you all!

 1) Fruit Ninja - This has to be my all-time FAVORITE gaming app! I'm totally obsessed with the repulsively hilarious sounds of splattered fruit, its one of those go-to-when-bored games that everyone should have on their i-whatever. You could go Fruit Ninja lite for free or Fruit Ninja in all its glory for $.99!

 2) Stylebook - MY LIFE IS COMPLETE! This is THE app for the fashion savvy, its an absolute must-have! Long story short, you upload pics of all the items in your wardrobe. Then sort them into their category (ex. tops, outerwear, shoes), then you create looks that you can then place on a calender so you can plan what your wearing next week, or next month, or next year! Its beyond genius! Only negative is that its $3.99 but its is soo worth it!

3) Text Now - My iPod touch is actually a iPhone now, thanks to this AH-MAZING app. There's only one word that can explain this app. It's free, gives you unlimited texts (still free!), and unlimited local and long-distance calling (still free!). That word is E-P-I-C. Period, point blank, end of story.

4) Camera+ -  This app is a TOTAL upgrade of the basic pre-loaded cameras for iPod touch and iPhone. It comes with all the features and more  of a professional camera for only $.99!! It takes fabulous pictures, which from there you can instantly upload onto any social network sites or blogs. So all of my promised-plethora of pictures will come directly from my camera+...

 5) Style.com - Style.com is THE online fashion headquarters! The fact that they've made it even more accessible via iPod, iPad, and iPhone is fabulous! With this app, you have every fashion show from every season and every designer in the palm of your hands! How genius is that?! You know what makes it a gazillion times better then it already is, its free! Go ahead and squeal...

So those are some of the highlights of my expansive app collection! Now back to Israel, I though it would be nice of me to give you a brief glimpse of my itinerary through pictures, enjoy! I'll try and post as soon as I can once I reach Israel, expect plenty of pictures! :)

{style crush: Bee of Atlantic-Pacific}

 In my last post, I mentioned Bee of Atlantic Pacific. Unfortunately, I think just a shout-out does not do her any justice whatsoever! To explain to you the sartorial prowess of Bee is just beyond words, she can never ever go wrong! I am constantly finding myself trying to replicate her looks, she's beyond the point of inspiring for me, its borderline obsession. Lets just put it this way, this lady KNOWS HOW TO DRESS! And anyone who disagrees better forever hold their peace... She's got styling down to an art, she is always jaw-droppingly chic from head to toe! She has a god-given talent when it comes to accessorizing, she's absolutely gorgeous, and styling is second nature to her! Her hair, make-up, and nails are always perfection and her photos that capture this phenomenon are just divine icing on one amazingly chic cake! Maybe the main reason for my creepy obsession with her, is that her style is so much like mine (or maybe mine is like hers?), its always on the move. I can never describe my style in any other word besides moody, it all depends on how I'm feeling when I step into my closet that morning! I could wake up feeling like a princess and head off to school in a lace shift dress with a diamond-pearl layered necklace and bow-adorned patent flats then the next day I feel a total boho vibe and I'm out the door with a tribal-printed maxi dress with a thousand gold bangles and strappy wedges. And Blair is just as indecisive as I am when it comes to the matter of style, which is why I can draw so much inspiration from her! I'm an avid follower of her fabulous blog and I find myself ridiculously excited to find out what her overflowing mastermind of style has created that day! She's even opened my eyes to the world of fashion merchandising which is now aspiring career! If I could meet her, it would be the moment of my life! (just receiving an email from her was unbelievably electrifying!) She is a true style icon...and I am her #1 overly obsessed fan! :) Just to give you a glimpse of just how truly amazing she is, here are just a few (well maybe alot more than a few, but you're gonna love it!) of my favorite looks from her! I BEG you to check out her ah-mazing blog Atlantic-Pacific (atlantic-pacific.blogspot.com). Trust me, you will not be disappointed... (you will also be able to grasp my beyond  insane fascination with her!) Now I probably need to fix my exclamation point key on my keyboard because its just about to break due to over-usage... :)

{current obsessions: finally spring}

Can we start over? I don't think its even possible for a 14 year old to be this busy, but in my world it just happens to be...gurr. I want to be committed to this blog as much as I possibly can, and devote time to it at least twice a week! So, I'm going to try my uttermost best from here on out to abide by that... :) Anyhoo, can you believe its FINALLY spring?! My favorite season of the year, the Earth is bursting with vibrant color from the runways to your backyard! Time to break out those floral jumpsuits, bright pink lip gloss, and cork wedges! How can you not love this time of year?! Which is exactly why I present to you today my current obsessions for this fabulous season! We all know that feeling that overcomes our sartorial-consumed minds when we lay our eyes on that beyond amazing thing(s) that we just have to have that very second! I have that feeling a little bit too often...and as of late, these are the things I'm beyond gaga for!
spring cravings

1)  I AH-DORE the fact that floor-length hemlines are getting their time to shine in the spotlight this spring! I am totally embracing this trend head-on! Starting with an amazing maxi-skirt that is simple, and I can style with just about anything. I love that a maxi can be dressed up or down, but I love this smoky option from Helmut Lang.
2) I've been overindulging myself in sky-high heels lately, just bought a pair of killer 5 inches! So I've been longing for a pair of the perfect spring wedges, and these Chloe's are to infinity and beyond my expectations! If only I had that kind of money, still on the hunt for a bargain find...
3) I was totally hooked by Bee from Atlantic-Pacific (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her! She can never ever go wrong!) when she paired up a tie-front denim shirt with a printed maxi dress which summed up to one stunning day look. I was sartorially-inclined to steal the look, its a total jaw-dropper! (You must check it out here: http://atlantic-pacific.blogspot.com/2011/02/splash.html)
4) I need a nice pair of printed shorts and floral is always my go-to print. Obsessed over these from H&M!
5) I think tights are essential in any girl's wardrobe, they can work year-round! I had a fab pair of polka-dotted ones but they runned, gurr... So I'm now on the market for a better pair! I love the playfulness of polka-dots that can instantly make any outfit fun.
6) Nothing screams spring like a pretty polish, and these shades are delicious! l-o-v-e...
7) I've been struggling to embrace the neon trend this spring, don't get me wrong though, I am LOVING the color everywhere! But mixing and matching prints and colors has just never been my cup of tea, as much as I would love to learn, it just hasn't come to me! So I've been adding splashes of color through my accessories and boy, do I love a good belt! I add a belt to practically everything, so this lime green Miu Miu skinny belt is perfection!
8) I think a cross-body bag is the best bag, its light and easy and you never have to worry about where your bag is! Just throw in your phone, keys, lip gloss, and your wallet then your out the door! Just perfect for any teen like me who's always on the go. I think this Marc by Marc Jacobs is simple and amazing...
9) This season I want to embrace things I've never tried before as far as style goes, I've always loved jumpsuits on other people but never known how they would look on me. When I saw this H&M jumpsuit, it was love at first sight! Its just the perfect spring silhouette, I want one bad...

{new girl in town}

Helloo blogoshpere! :) My name's Betty, I'm 14 years old in the 8th grade and live in the slowly but surely growing city of Raleigh, North Carolina! But I'm no southern belle, that's for sure! First things first, fashion isn't just a hobby for me, its a lifestyle that I live and breathe every single day! My life just isn't complete without it! Some people may express themselves through singing, dancing, or painting but I express myself through style, it's my ultimate sweet escape. I dream about becoming the next Grace Coddington or Rachel Zoe, I've literally sat in front of my mirror and pretended I'm in an interview with Anna Wintor! So I think I'm something beyond obssessed... But one day, this obsession will become reality and I'm determined to do anything to achieve them! One major reason I started this blog, was to be able to relate to people who are as passionate about fashion as I am! When you're 14 living in Raleigh, North Carolina, avid fashionistas are few and far between! The furthest fashion goes among most of my peers is Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, or Aeropostale! Although, their are the rare few (who just happen to be my best friends!) who break out of their comfort zone at Forever 21! Sure, most girls have a good eye but about 99% have even the slightest clue who Karl Lagerfeild even is! (The remaining 1% being yours truly!) I can only imagine of a day when I can go to school and rave on and on about Sarah Burton's debut collection for Alexander McQueen or Katy Perry's cover of ELLE! So I guess my Forever 21 lovers will have to do for now, but at least I'm here to snap them out of their sartorial daze and show them what real style is! Its about bringing out what's inside of you out for all the world to see via ruffled chiffon tops, floral-printed shorts, and metallic espadrilles! Anyhoo, I'm mad excited about this blog and I hope it takes my fashion journey to places its never been before! So there's alot more coming your way...I'm planning on posting lots of pictures, posts on the unfortunately past Fashion Week, the current amazing awards season, and much, much more! Now I have to get back to packing for a impromptu trip to DC tomorrow...gurr. Byee! :)
