You know the one thing I LOVE about blogs is that their about and by real people...not supermodels, actors, or billionaires, their everyday people. So I know you can all relate when I say, life can get chaotic! Which is the exact word that can explain the past month or two in the world of Betty! After escaping from the real world to a dream vacation in Israel, it eventually comes back and nips you in the rear...well, lesson learned! I really want to be dedicated to this blog (which I know I've said in almost every single post so far) but between the time I stepped back on American soil and today its a tie between my conundrum of a schedule to just being a lazy teenager that have led to my delay of posts. :) But enough about the past, I just had to get that out of the way. But I promised you a plethora of pictures...remember? Well, guess what?! My laptop broke! yay. So those pictures will arrive in maybe another week or so! yay x2. (I hope your sensing my sarcasm) So until then, I've been trying to come up with different features that will be the theme of all of my blog posts. (ex. current trends, what to wear?) So today's feature is Current Obsessions, I previously posted a current obsessions which featured my spring must-haves. So basically, current obsessions post will be all about the current things I'm dying over. Don't even try and say you've never felt emotionally attached to, for instance, a pair of suede platforms that are in the just perfect shade of blue and would go perfectly with that chiffon tunic you just bought! So as of late, I've had that insane feeling over white lace dresses! When I saw Kate Hudson on the cover of this month's InStyle, my heart stopped for a good 60 seconds. That dress, out of the only 1/12th I saw of it was jaw-droppingly amazing. With those beyond perfect just-enough-skin, dreamily-chic, cut-outs, it was a dress only meant for frolicking in a field full of delicate flowers. It was like the love child of minimalism, summer, and Sarah Burton! I just fell madly in love with these etheral fantasies that are the perfect epitome of summer effortlessness. So I began a frantic pursuit to find an equivalent to Miss Hudson's fabulous frock that would satisfy my craving, and these are a few that are just my cup of tea. Of course, my go-to store for any of my obsessions is ModCloth which proved itself amazing once again with a bountiful supply of lacey dresses that were just what I was looking for. So all of the following options were gloriously found on the one and only ModCloth.com! :)
1. Cupcakes of Cashmere is another one of my FAVORITE blogs that I follow religiously, along with Atlantic-Pacific. Emily has such effortlessly chic style it kills me, she is the perfect example of a cool Cali girl. The second I saw this Whitney Eve stunner my jaw was on the floor, it was everything you could ever imagine in a dress. It was modest but sexy, feminine but edgy, dressy enough for a date but casual enough for lunch with the girls. It was like heaven that you could wear! I definently think Whitney Port is one to watch, and I am momentarily despising MTV for canceling The City! But lets not go there...I could go on for days about that issue. Anyhoo, love this x1000! *You must check out her blog @ cupcakesofcashmere.com...it's a must-have link on your blogroll!*
2. This lacy number is EXACTLY what I was going for in a WLD! (white lace dress...yeah, I went there, haha) Its effortless, feminine and chic all wrapped up in one amazing dress.I love the ruffle detail on the straps, its exactly what it needs to set it apart from a basic white lace dress. Its also incredibly versatile, I could wear this to school by adding gold layered bracelets and printed flats or I could also sport it out for dinner with wedges and a skinny belt.
3. I l-o-v-e pockets!! As much as I adore the feeling of carrying a fab bag, I also love the feeling of free hands! For me, (and I know I've said this a gazillion times, but whatever) white lace dresses are meant to be effortless and chic and pockets are the perfect detail to exemplify that. I'm also a huge fan of hidden pockets, I recently purchased a few dresses with hidden pockets and I love it when I casually slip my hands in my pockets and someone's like WHOA! It has pockets, that so cool! :)
4. My closet is dictated by anything and everything that screams feminine" Which translates to a variety of ruffles, sequins, neutrals, pinks, dresses, skirts, rompers, deep v-necks, chiffons, sheer, polka-dots, yada yada yada. I just love looking pretty and this dress is the epitome of pretty, with the sheer polka-dotted overlay and the ruffled neckline, its practically singing to me. This is a pure example of why I love clothes, its fun, flirty, and fabulous! What more could you ask for in a dress?
5. I have always loved floor-grazing hemlines. Being a mere 5 foot and 4 inches (but growing), I've come to learn how to play with the eyes. Floor length skirts do the trick for me every time, so to have my obsession of the moment in a maxi option is splendid! I love this dress in particular for its slight sweetheart neckline which gives off a hint of decolletage and it also works for any occasion. Throw a white blazer over it for night, a simple bolero for day and you're ready to go.
